This might be an exception to my family, but I'm not sure... Well, my parents always to "communicate" with me, that's what they always SAY. they claim that they fetch me to and from school because they want to communicate with me... BUT, when I try to make small talk with them, they just won't hesitate to ask me to shut up because they need to "concentrate on driving, cannot talk to you, you cannot see meh". Okay...? Then I change lorh, I don't talk. Then my mum will say "I fetch you because I want to communicate with you, not for you to sleep in the car okay!". Yeah...? What am I supposed to do...? ):
Okay an example from today:
-silence in car-
Me: You know right, I drank coffee on an empty stomach and I got a stomachache.
-silence-
Me: Why you ignore me.
-sudden burst of outrage from them simultaneously-
Mum: What am I suppose to say?! Like you're just telling me drinking coffee on an empty stomach will get stomachache then what am I supposed to say?! I'm also not like some expert and can tell you 'yeah you get stomach ache because there's this compound in the coffee that affects blahblah when you drink on an empty stomach...' right?!
Dad: You also alway like that what we call you you also never answer us why you expect us to answer you?! Why call you you only like '-grunts-' then when you call is and talk to us how you expect us to answer you. Of course we ignore you lah!!!
(for the record, they talking about totally different stuff but they make it seem like they're agreeing with each other on the same thing-.-)
Mum: Ya lorh we also don't know how to answer you what!! How am I supposed to know you were asking a question and talking to us???
(yeah... I'm totally talking to myself when I said im having a stomach ache... In the car... With only the three of us... Because I'm totally crazy.)
At this point I started crying for idk what reason so... I shoved my earpieces in and blasted a The Wante song. I think. I was so overwhelmed by some weird emotion which I can't explain that I can't even remember listening to a song...
Yeap that's the first bit. Second bit in a bit... While I try to rmb... :/
Ohyeah okay. We were eating in macs... Weird place to eat as a family actually... Hmm and there is this giy who bought like a whole load of food and was at the door, then a stranger opened the door for him... The guy's about 17-20 I think, and the stranger's quite old about 40-50? Can't really tell. But I didn't really see the whole thing, is they describe one, while criticising our generation whoo!
Dad: I thought they were related, like father and son!
Mum: Ya lor, then the stranger open door for him the youngster also never say thankyou!!
Dad: I thought he never say because is his father...
Mum: 现在的年轻人，没有教养！不动学校怎么教的！
Dad: 没有家教...
And some other crap I can't really rmb. But the point is they keep saying the guy no manners and that he's not raised right and also basically saying the young people now are all like that. With the my-generation-was-so-much-better air in their voice.
My point is:
1. WHO RAISED OUR GENERATION?
2. NOT EVERY ONE OF US IS LIKE THAT
3. YOU THINK YOUR GENERATION ALSO GOT MANNERS MEH
Point 1:
YOUR GENERATION raised our generation. Don't you think it's a tad too ironic that you're criticising the very generation that your generation raised? (:
Plus, don't blame everything on the school can? Schools are not obliged to teach morals and principles to kids leh please, parents are supposed to do that. I think only singapore schools teach morals and principles to their kids, those that do is because they don't want a bad reputation for their school...
Point 2:
What makes you think that ALL youngsters don't say please and thankyou to people ah? Please lah(see I just said please), maybe the guy said but you didn't hear only lorh. And actually, EVERYBODY holds the door for people who are behind them okay, unless they're assholes or are just having a bad mood.
Point 3:
Please please please prove that your generation has got more manners than mine, thank you very very very much. (:

Also, I gathered from the way you treat other people, especially Ye generation who raised you, that you have no manners too~ Hah! You also disrespect the generation you raised, so please don't complain. there are also many people from your generation who have no manners, like on the bus/train or while flagging cabs, or in the market/shopping malls... Just LOOK. oh and stomp? Mostly fom your generation also. NO RESPECT OF PRIVACY MUCH?
Okay done ranting and I have reached home and I have no mood to rant anymore, appeased already. HAHA BYE <3
